Art Therapy
Art therapy is a method of creative expression that is used as a therapeutic tactic. Rooted in psychotherapy, the Expressive Arts Therapies allows for clients to express themselves nonverbally in a creative way, promoting creative problem solving, self reflection, socialization, and much more! On the road to getting her BFA in Art Therapy, Danii hopes to eventually incorporate the arts into her work as an Expressive Arts Therapist after graduate school.
Ecospychology- exploring the relationship between nature and emotion.
Duckling Mosaic- using mosaic as a creative outlet and form of expression, with a friend!
Plaster Mask Making- analyzing self image and discussing self-esteem.
Art in Nature- creating an art piece in nature.
As a student of art therapy, Danii is currently working toward obtaining her undergraduate degree. She is not yet a therapist.
My approach to Expressive Arts Therapy will draw upon Adlerian Theory, Feminist Theory, Solution Focused Theory, and Person Centered Theory in order to meet the specific needs of the client and utilize visual, and performance art as a therapeutic means of self expression for people across the lifespan. I hope to meet the client where they are, and incorporate elements such as recognizing each individual is unique, equal, the expert of their own situation, and capable of recognizing a realistic solution to their specific problem at hand. By utilizing drawing, painting and sculpting in combination with singing, acting, and music making, my goal is to introduce the creative arts as a means of coping, expression, or relaxation.
